I am Shiv Kumar — first and foremost, a teacher.

After more than 26 years in the education sector, I have learned that a teacher’s journey is never about reaching a destination; it is about continuously learning, sharing, creating and helping others grow.

I do not see myself as the founder or leader of Teachers of Bihar – The Change Makers. I see myself as one of the smallest members of this beautiful family—a family created by teachers, strengthened by teachers and dedicated to teachers.

My journey with Teachers of Bihar began with a simple belief: every teacher has something valuable to share, and every teacher has something new to learn. What started as an idea has gradually grown into a vibrant Professional Learning Community where educators connect, collaborate, share innovations and celebrate one another.

I am deeply passionate about ICT, educational technology and digital learning. I enjoy exploring new technologies and finding meaningful ways to bring them into education. At the same time, I have an equally special place in my heart for music and singing. For me, technology stimulates the mind, while music touches the heart.

Over the years, I have had the privilege of serving education in different capacities—as a National Resource Person with NCERT, Resource Person with NIEPA, State Resource Person and trainer with SCERT Bihar and Bihar Education Project Council, and Resource Person associated with BSDMA’s Safe Saturday initiative. I have also had opportunities to collaborate with organisations including UNICEF, UNESCO, NIDM and educational institutions on different educational and developmental initiatives.

I have contributed to teacher training, curriculum and module development, ICT-based learning, Art Integrated Learning, OER, educational films, digital resources and professional learning initiatives.

But beyond all these roles and recognitions, “Teacher” remains the identity closest to my heart.

I believe in three simple things:

Learn. Share. Inspire.

Learn something new every day.

Share whatever can help another teacher.

And inspire others through your work, however small it may seem.

I love photography, videography, travelling, singing and exploring technology. I enjoy documenting the unseen stories of teachers and schools because I believe that behind every good school, there are many unsung heroes whose stories deserve to be heard.

My journey has never been about doing everything myself. It has always been about bringing people together, creating possibilities and making good work visible.

Shivendra Prakash Suman is an experienced IT professional and software architect with over a decade of experience in software development, web technologies, application architecture, and digital solutions. Originally from Muzaffarpur, Bihar, he believes that technology becomes truly meaningful when it goes beyond solving technical problems and contributes to creating a positive impact in society.

Over the years, Shivendra has worked in different technical roles involving software development, web application development, system architecture, database-driven applications, and the implementation and management of large-scale digital platforms. His professional journey has given him the opportunity to work with both private-sector organisations and important educational initiatives in Bihar.

One of the significant parts of his professional journey has been his association with the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Bihar, where he worked as a Software Developer and contributed to the development of its official digital platform. He is the developer of the SCERT Bihar website, helping establish a digital platform through which educational resources, notifications, results, publications, e-content, and other important information can reach teachers, students, institutions, and the wider education community.

He has also contributed as a developer to e-LOTS (e-Library of Teachers and Students) of the Bihar Education Project Council, another technology-driven initiative supporting access to digital educational resources.

Alongside his professional career, Shivendra has remained closely connected with education through Teachers of Bihar. As part of its technical leadership, he has contributed to developing and strengthening the organisation’s digital ecosystem, including its websites, educational platforms, e-magazines, online activities, digital resources, and several technology-driven initiatives for teachers and students.

His approach to technology is simple: understand the need, find a practical solution, and make it useful for the people it is meant to serve. He continues to explore new technologies and looks for meaningful ways to apply them in education, community initiatives, and real-world problem solving.

Shivendra strongly values teamwork and believes that meaningful work is rarely the achievement of one individual. Rather than seeking recognition, he prefers contributing behind the scenes—supporting teams, solving technical challenges, and helping ideas take shape through technology.

His association with Teachers of Bihar reflects this philosophy: using his professional skills to support an educational community and helping build a stronger digital platform where the creativity, innovation, experiences, and good work of Bihar’s teachers can reach a wider audience.

For Shivendra, technology is not just a profession; it is a way to contribute, connect, solve problems, and create something useful for others.

I am a dedicated and innovative Science and Mathematics Teacher with experience in teaching students of the middle-school level. I integrate Project-Based Learning (PBL), activity-based learning, experiments, Teaching-Learning Materials (TLM), and real-life applications into my teaching to make learning engaging, meaningful, and student-centred.

I believe that effective education goes beyond completing the syllabus. I encourage students to explore, question, participate, collaborate, and connect classroom learning with their everyday experiences. I am also passionate about educational technology, digital content creation, teacher training, and the development of innovative learning resources.

Alongside classroom teaching, I actively contribute to educational initiatives, module development, professional development programmes, and teacher-support activities at school, block, district, and state levels.
